The teachers at Valencia Guitar Head are our backbone. Our requirements to teach at Valencia Guitar Head are that the musician must have a solid educational background. He or she must have a performing history, and he or she must be able to teach to all ages. Chris Sobkowich - Guitar and Bass

 

Chris studied classical guitar at the University of Manitoba, and also completed his Grade 10 from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Winnipeg. Chris also won the Manitoba Music Competition Grade 11 Class, Guitar Warz 1989 and Fender Guitar Wars 1990 which was Nationally televised on Much Music. (Canada's MTV)

He then went on to study at the Guitar Institute of Technology at the Musician's Institute in Hollywood CA, where he was dubbed a Success Story.

Chris has performed with a number of groups, including Gene Loves Jezebel, Bay City Rollers, House of Lords, and Neil Diamond. Chris is a fun and energetic teacher who approaches teaching in a light hearted manner, while still imparting great technical and musical skills. In addition to teaching classical and rock guitar, Chris also teaches standard electric bass, slap and pop techniques, and he also teaches a mean banjo!
